Both sides get the same eight classes, so the real choice is your friends, your look and your story. Pick with care, since a server holds one faction and transfers keep you on your side.

Play Where Your Friends Are

One faction per server

An Elyos server has no Asmodians on it, so friends on the other side live elsewhere.

Same region too

Servers are split by region first. Agree on NA, Europe, South America or Asia.

Switching later is hard

Server transfers never cross factions, so a wrong pick means a new character.

Elyos and Asmodian Main Stories

Elyos story

Ishtar burned Poeta, and beyond the Bulwark Daeva are hunted down to fuel Surana.

Asmodian story

Fafnir crushed Ishalgen and tears Daeva souls apart, locking their light in crystal to make Fafnite.

Shared past

Both start 200 years after the original game, after the AION Tower fell in the Last War.

Which faction is better in AION 2?

Neither gets extra classes. Both have the same eight, so pick the side your friends play or the one whose look you like.

Can I play with friends on the other faction?

Not on the same server, since each server holds one faction. You would meet them as enemies in the Abyss if your servers are paired.

Can I switch faction with a server transfer?

No. Transfers only go to servers of the same faction and the same region.

Where do Elyos and Asmodians start?

Elyos start in Verteron and Asmodians start in Altgard.
