Templar Overview

Templar Basic Information

Role

Main tank. You hold enmity so the party can deal damage safely.

Weapon

A longsword, with a shield in the off hand.

Damage

Judgment is your main hit. Shield skills and Blocks set it up.

Party value

Battlefield Banner and Fury raise the whole party's damage.

How to Play Templar

Pull First, Hold Enmity

Open every pull with Poach or Taunt, so the boss locks onto you before anyone else hits it.

Turn the Boss Away

Turn the boss away from the group. Its cleaves and frontal attacks then land only on you.

Damage Mitigation

Blocks, Defense and HP keep you standing. Swap in Noble Armor for heavy damage or big pulls.

Open Judgment With Shield Skills

Shield Smite and Warding Strike set up Judgment. Fire procs like Annihilate the moment they light up.

Time Your Party Buffs

Pop Battlefield Banner when the party bursts. Fury adds party damage after you block.

AION 2 Templar FAQ

Is the Templar the only tank in AION 2?

It is the only class built as the main tank. A Gladiator can take some hits, but it has no real taunt.

What weapon does the Templar use?

A longsword, with a shield in the off hand.

Does the Templar deal good damage?

Not much on its own. Judgment hits hard, but your real value is holding the boss and buffing the party.

What is the best Templar build?

Most players build around Judgment: shield skills and Blocks set it up, and Punishment is the charged heavy hit.
