Ultima Weapon Weaknesses and How to Beat It in FF Resonance

Ultima Weapon waits at Ardra Crater after the story ends, and its 3.9 million HP dwarfs every other boss. It switches between four modes, each with new weaknesses and a new attack style, and fires Ultima Beam before every switch.

How to Beat Ultima Weapon

Before the Fight

  • Collect every Vision and max their masteries for the AP and permanent stat bonuses.
  • Your tank wants a Ribbon, Arms Akimbo, Guard and Multi-Cover.
  • Bring Pharmacology from Leah and a stack of Mist Ethers from the Airship or Colosseum.

Ultima Weapon Strategy

Learn the Four Modes

It always opens in Modus Infernus, then switches at random. Each mode changes its weaknesses and moves, so watch which one is active.

Stagger Before Ultima Beam

Right before a mode change it fires Ultima Beam at the whole party. Breaking it in time cancels the beam.

Double Up on Your Tank

With Arms Akimbo, your tank uses Multi-Cover and Guard in the same turn. Splitting them over two turns usually gets the tank killed.

Arms Akimbo Plus Magic Barrage

Attackers stack Arms Akimbo with Magic Barrage, then cast Ultima for raw damage. If a spell matches the current weakness, barrage that instead for a faster break.

Keep Reraise and MP Flowing

Some attacks slip past Multi-Cover, so keep Reraise on everyone, Magic Barrage can spread it in one turn. Refill MP with Arms Akimbo and Mist Ethers, boosted 50% by Pharmacology.
