FF Resonance Best Weapons and Gear for Every Character
- Early on, Flamberge, Iwakirimaru and Crescent Bow are the best weapons for Rain, Lasswell and Fina.
- Guardian's Plate is the standout armor around Chapter 4, at the cost of some Speed.
- Jeweled Ring is a safe accessory slot in the mid game since it blocks Petrify and Paralysis.
- Every post-game plus weapon raises the damage cap to 99999.
- Ribbon shows up in almost every endgame set because it blocks nearly all status ailments.
Early Game Weapons and Equipment
These picks come from Chapter 1 shops, quests and chests. Grandport Harbor sells most of them, so stock up there before Siren's Tower.
Rain
| Slot | Pick | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Flamberge | Dream of an Idealist sub quest |
| Weapon (alt) | Claymore | Grandport Harbor shop, 1,400 Gil |
| Armor | Surcoat | Grandport Harbor shop, 980 Gil |
| Armor (alt) | Black Garb | Chest in Grandshelt Castle |
| Accessory | Vitality Charm | Oblivion Palace, 3 Tablet Shards |
| Accessory | Bulletproof Vest | Earth Shrine chest or shops, 1,000 Gil |
- Flamberge adds 140 HP on top of its attack, which is exactly what a front liner wants.
- Claymore hits almost as hard but has no HP bonus, so use it only until you finish the quest.
- Surcoat plus Vitality Charm adds another 200 HP. If you want Rain to move sooner, Black Garb gives up some defense for 8 Speed.
Lasswell
| Slot | Pick | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Iwakirimaru | The Weight of Mercy sub quest |
| Weapon (alt) | Sakura-Fubuki | Chest in Siren's Tower |
| Armor | Surcoat | Grandport Harbor shop, 980 Gil |
| Armor (alt) | Black Garb | Chest in Grandshelt Castle |
| Accessories | Idaten's Shoes x2 | Grandshelt, Olderion and Town of Amore shops, 600 Gil |
- Iwakirimaru is well rounded and adds 20 MP for his skills in long fights.
- Sakura-Fubuki has more physical attack, 43 against 37, but no MP bonus.
- Stack Speed so Lasswell moves early and starts on Stagger gauges before enemies act.
Fina
| Slot | Pick | How to get |
|---|---|---|
| Weapon | Crescent Bow | Grandport Harbor shop, 1,600 Gil |
| Weapon (alt) | Floral Arc | Sparkly spot on the world map |
| Armor | Spirit Veil | Grandport Harbor shop, 750 Gil |
| Armor (alt) | Cotton Robe | Grandport Harbor shop, 1,000 Gil |
| Accessories | Mage's Glasses x2 | Grandshelt, Olderion and Town of Amore shops, 800 Gil |
- Crescent Bow balances attack, magic and 20 Sanctity, which powers her heals and Light spells.
- Floral Arc has weaker attack stats but 32 Sanctity, so pick it if healing comes first.
- Cotton Robe has the same defenses as Spirit Veil but gives MP instead of Sanctity.
Mid-Game Weapons and Equipment
These sets use the strongest gear around Chapter 4 and hold up into the start of Chapter 5. Pair them with Visions that fit each role for the best results.
| Character | Weapon | Armor | Accessories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rain | Bladed Shield | Guardian's Plate | Power Wristbands, Jeweled Ring |
| Lasswell | Kuki | Guardian's Plate | Vitality Charm, Calm Armlet |
| Fina | Cure Drop | Arch Robe | Jeweled Ring, Monk's Prayer Beads |
| Lid | Divine Mallet | Guardian's Plate | Jeweled Ring, Stagger Ring |
| Nichol | Annihilaticon | Arch Robe | Jeweled Ring, Insulated Gloves |
| Jake | Impetus Breaker | Guardian's Plate | Jeweled Ring, Calm Armlet |
- Guardian's Plate keeps Protect and Shell up while the wearer is under half HP. The Speed loss is the price.
- Jeweled Ring guards against Petrify and Paralysis, two ailments that can wreck a run.
- Cure Drop and Arch Robe both boost healing, which makes Fina a much stronger Medic.
- Annihilaticon adds Deprotect whenever Nichol staggers a foe, softening it for your physical hitters.
- Impetus Breaker slows a random enemy as the fight begins, giving Jake's team an early edge.
Post-Game Weapons and Equipment
Every plus weapon below raises the damage cap to 99999, so they are the main upgrade once you finish the story.
| Character | Weapon | Armor | Accessories |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rain | Ragnarok+ | Tatenashi Armor | Ribbon, Ultima Reactor |
| Lasswell | Sasuke's Blade+ | Mirage Vest+ | Ribbon, Dark Rosary |
| Fina | Artemis Bow+ | Lorica Sancta | Philosopher's Stone, Super Ribbon |
| Lid | Thor's Hammer+ | Lorica Apocalyptica | Ribbon, Chocobo Nitro |
| Nichol | Last Resort+ | Crown Vest | Ribbon, Enchanted Ring |
| Jake | Arcturus+ | Genji Armor | Ribbon, Genji Gloves |
| Sakura | Wizard's Rod+ | Behemoth Suit | Ribbon, Gold Hairpin+ |
Rain
Ragnarok+ boosts non-elemental damage and stagger, which includes his counters, so he tanks and breaks at once. Tatenashi Armor and Ribbon cover Instant Death and status ailments.
Lasswell
Sasuke's Blade+ adds crit rate and physical evasion, making him your main damage dealer. Dark Rosary costs HP each action but helps him stagger faster to feed his stagger passives.
Fina
Artemis Bow+ and Lorica Sancta stack Sanctity and healing power. Philosopher's Stone and the bow refill MP, so she can skip MP passives entirely.
Lid
This set turns Lid into a physical attacker. Thor's Hammer+ and Lorica Apocalyptica make up for her lower physical attack, and Chocobo Nitro adds debuffs to her Mechabo skills.
Nichol
Last Resort+ charges his LB gauge while he uses Formations, and both it and Enchanted Ring stretch his buffs by a turn. That makes stacking several Formations at once much easier.
Jake
Arcturus+ builds his luck and LB gauge every turn, and Genji Armor plus Genji Gloves push crits hard. Add crit passives and he lands big hits almost every turn.
Sakura
Wizard's Rod+ rewards hitting weaknesses, so give her lots of elements and abilities like Scan and Strike. Gold Hairpin+ halves her MP costs and adds Speed.
Archwitch Fina
She fights with a whip, and her legendary one is Fire Birch+ from the Chamber of Arms. It hits harder the more debuffs a target carries, which suits a Saboteur.
FAQ
What is the best early weapon for Rain?
Flamberge from the Dream of an Idealist sub quest in Grandshelt. It adds 140 HP, which suits his tank role.
Why do so many endgame sets use Ribbon?
It blocks every status ailment except Instant Death, which frees your party from carrying cures in hard fights.
Is Guardian's Plate worth the Speed loss?
For tanks and front liners, yes. Free Protect and Shell at low HP saves turns you would spend healing.
