FF Resonance Multicasting Explained

With multicasting in Final Fantasy Resonance, one spell hits every enemy or every ally. It is weaker per target, so timing is what makes it shine.
  • Fire, Blizzard, Thunder, their upgrades and Cure can all target a whole side.
  • Each target takes less than a single-target cast, even if it is weak to the element.
  • Multicast when every enemy's Stagger gauge is low to trigger a Sweeping Stagger.
  • Area Effect Adept keeps full power on multicasts at double the MP.

What Is Multicasting?

Multicasting aims a spell at all enemies or all allies at once instead of a single target. Black magic like Fire, Blizzard and Thunder and white magic like Cure all support it.

Spells Get Weaker When You Multicast

The trade-off is power. A multicast Fire does less to each enemy than a single Fire would, even when they are all weak to Fire.

When to Multicast

The best moment is when every enemy's Stagger gauge is nearly empty. A multicast then breaks them all in the same turn and triggers a Sweeping Stagger.

  1. Chip each enemy's gauge down with single-target attacks.
  2. Stop just short of breaking any of them.
  3. Multicast a spell that hits their weakness.
  4. Use the party's extra turns, then finish with a Resonance skill.

Multicast heals are also handy when several allies are hurt at once, like after a big AoE attack.

FAQ

Does multicasting do less damage?

Yes. Each target takes less than it would from a single-target cast, unless you equip Area Effect Adept.

When should I multicast?

When every enemy is close to staggering, so one cast breaks them all and starts a Sweeping Stagger.
