How to play Block Drop

Shapes made of four blocks fall into a 10 by 20 well, one at a time. Move and rotate each one so it lands where you want. When a row is filled from wall to wall it clears, and everything above it drops down.

The run ends when a new piece has no room to appear at the top. The faint outline under the falling piece shows where it will land, the Next box shows the next three pieces, and Hold lets you park one piece for later, once per drop.

Block Drop scoring and levels

Clearing 1, 2, 3 or 4 rows at once pays 100, 300, 500 or 800 points times your level. Soft drop adds 1 point per row and hard drop adds 2 points per row.

Two 4-row clears in a row, with no smaller clear in between, pay 1.5 times. When pieces placed one after another each clear something, you build a combo: the second clear in a row adds 50 x level, the third adds 100 x level, and it keeps growing by 50 x level. The bonus pops up in green.

You go up a level every 10 lines and pieces fall faster each time. At level 1 a piece drops one row per second.

Block Drop tips for a high score

Keep the stack flat and leave one column open against a wall for the long bar. Four rows at once pays 800 per level, more than clearing the same four rows one by one, even with a combo.

Pieces come in shuffled sets of seven with every shape once per set, so the long bar never stays away for more than 12 pieces. Park one in Hold and save it for your gap.

A piece that touches the stack can still slide for half a second, enough to tuck it under an overhang. Hard drop when you are sure: it is faster and pays double.

Can you play Block Drop on your phone?

Yes. Tap to rotate, drag sideways to move, drag down slowly for a soft drop, flick down to slam the piece and swipe up to hold. You can also tap the Hold box, and the Pause button sits under the stats.

It runs right in the browser with nothing to download, and your best score is saved on your device.
