How to Recruit Characters: All Recruitment Requirements
Each Flame Lord's path starts with its own army, and most other units can be won over once you hit the chapter, support level and Renown they want. Here's every requirement on all four paths.
How to Recruit Characters
Reach the Chapter They Open Up In
Usually Chapter 3, 4 or 5 on that path. See the From column below.
Raise Your Support Level and Renown
Support level 1 to 3 with them, plus the Renown level they ask for. Renown grows as you finish quests around Dagda.
Give the Gift or Finish the Request
Gold, an item, a cleared paralogue or a personal request. Then talk to them to recruit them.

The units from other armies that ask for the least: low support and Renown, and nothing or very little to hand over. Good first picks when you want a bigger army fast.

How do you recruit units from other armies?
Reach the chapter where they open up, raise your support level with them and your Renown, then do what they ask: hand over gold or an item, clear a paralogue or finish their request. The table for each path lists all of it.
What is Renown?
Renown is how famous your army is. Units from other armies want a certain Renown level before they agree to join, so raising it opens up more recruits.
Which units cost gold to recruit?
Dante, Fianna, Inyoni, Io, Jasmine, Lilian, Mikaela, Simon, Tialla ask for gold on some paths, between 500 and 8,000 Gold.
Who joins in Part II and Part III?
Aswan, Creek, Klapka, Nathan, Tahonia join after Part I. Aswan: Part II: Chapter 3, by talking to her. (Aswan will leave the party until Part III). Creek: Part II: War Chapter 2.
