How to play Block Puzzle
You get an empty 8x8 board and three blocks waiting in the tray below it. Drag any block onto the board, in any order. A preview shows where it will land, and it turns red when the block does not fit there. When all three blocks are used, three new ones appear.
Fill a whole row or a whole column and it pops off the board. Blocks never fall down on their own, so every cell you fill stays until a line clears it. The game ends when none of the three blocks in the tray fits anywhere on the board. Your current game is saved in the browser, so you can close the tab and continue later.
Block Puzzle pieces
There are 13 block families, each with its own color: squares of 1x1, 2x2 and 3x3, straight bars of 2 to 5 cells (horizontal and vertical), small 3 cell corners, 4 cell L and J shapes, big 5 cell corners, T shapes, S and Z shapes and a plus. Small blocks come up more often than the big ones, and every new tray always has at least one block that fits the board when that is possible.
How scoring works in Block Puzzle
Every cell you place is worth 10 points. Clearing lines is where the big numbers come from: one line gives 100, and clearing several at once is squared, so 2 lines give 400, 3 lines give 900 and 4 lines give 1,600.
Clear lines on back to back placements to build a combo. The second clear in a row doubles the line points, the third triples them and so on, with a Combo x2, x3 banner on the board. Placing a block without clearing anything resets the streak. Your best score is kept on this device and a crown appears next to your score when you pass it.
Block Puzzle tips for a high score
Keep a free 3x3 space open somewhere, because the 3x3 square and the big corners show up and have nowhere to go on a crowded board. Build along edges and corners first, and keep the middle open for long bars.
Before dropping a block, look at the preview: cells that light up white mean a row or column will clear. Set up two lines to clear with one block, then keep clearing on the next placements to stack the combo multiplier.
Can you play Block Puzzle on a phone?
Yes. Drag a block with your finger and it floats above your fingertip so you can see exactly where it lands. The board scales to any screen and runs in the browser with nothing to install. On a computer you can drag with the mouse, click a block and then a cell, or play fully with the keyboard using 1, 2, 3, the arrow keys and Enter.
