How to Beat Sephiroth

Before the Fight

  • Aim for level 55 or higher, ten above his own level.
  • Build a physical team, but carry several elements and Light magic for later phases.
  • Stock X-Potions, Mist items, Megalixirs and Phoenix Downs, and give everyone Terra's Break the Limit.

Sephiroth Strategy

Hit First, Then Set Up

Your team moves first, so open with big physical hits before Masamune in Waiting goes up. After that, buff and use spells while he parries physical attacks.

Heal Through Heartless Angel

The turn after One-Winged Angel he attacks, then Heartless Angel leaves everyone at 1 HP. Heal the whole party right away with Mist X-Potions or Megalixirs, and recast any buffs he strips.

Read His Infusion

In phase 2 he takes on one random element and becomes weak to its opposite. Check the infusion each time and switch to that element to drain his gauge.

Use the Transition Turns

When he starts ignoring every attack, a new phase is coming. Spend those turns healing and buffing.

Beat the Meteor Count

Divine Proclamation starts a nine move countdown to Meteor, which ends the run. Even Sakura's Eternal Veil does not stop it, so stagger him with Light and burst him down.
